The new DVR-A09XL supports 6X* Dual Layer DVD recording
bringing new capabilities to your PC! You can now store up to 4 hours of high quality MPEG-2 video (or up to 8 hours of MPEG-1 video) or up to 8.5GB of information on a single
8.5GB dual layer DVD+R or DVD-R disc.
What is Dual Layer DVD? Burn an entire 4.7GB DVD-R or
DVD+R disc in as little as 7 minutes! Two times faster than previous generation drives, the Pioneer
DVR-A09XL is also
a multiple format drive, burning both DVD-R or DVD+R discs at 16x**! The
DVR-A09XL features a range of innovations
that improve DVD writing performance:
Smart Laser Driver - the Write strategy control circuitry has been
moved closer to the laser pick up to prevent signal distortion between the main
board and the drive pick up, allowing high quality recording at high speed. Liquid Crystal Tilt/Thickness Compensator - the mechanism helps to
ensure precise writing onto the surface of discs that have become warped or are
of uneven thickness. Such media can also cause vibration in the drive mechanism
that impairs recording quality. The Liquid
Crystal Tilt Compensator is an ideal solution for irregularly curved,
thin/thick, and dual layer discs.
Ultra Dynamic Resonance Absorber (Low Vibration Mechanism) - this acts to
reduce the instability and vibration which is caused by imbalanced or damaged
media, to achieve and maintain the integrity of the recording and playback
performance

firmware upgrade once the DVD-R Dual Layer specification has been officially
approved. Until then 4x write speeds can be achieved on selected
DVD+R 2.4x Double Layer media.
** Until such time as true 16x media is available, 16x
write speeds can be achieved on selected 8x speed
DVD-R and 8x DVD+R media types.
